The feedback from our last workshop was great and now we our happy to announce another advanced workshop. This workshop will again be run over 2 hours, and will consist of 1 hour of footwork followed by another hour of material and turn patterns. There will then be practice time which will also allow for any questions. The workshop is catered to advanced on2 dancers (advanced meaning confident leaders, followers and spinners) and advanced on1 dancers who will be able to subsequently convert from on2 timing. On2 understanding of timing is essential!

With Tarek recently back from New York, the material will be based on the latest shapes and footwork heavily influenced by the likes Eddie Torres and Santo Rico. Leisa, known for her incredible body isolation and technique, will also be teaching ladies styling and body movement to accompany the underlying material. The workshop is principally catered to advanced on2 dancers (advanced meaning confident leaders, followers and spinners) and advanced on1 dancers who will be able to subsequently convert from on2. Thus the pace will move fairly quickly and more emphasis will be placed on the material itself as opposed to the more elemental principles of on2. On2 understanding of timing is essential!

18th August 2005 End of Course Update
First and foremost, thank you for all who supported the Mambo Lounge yet again in our previous 8 week workshops. To all our regulars and casuals, your support and enthusiasm is ultimately what drives us to continuously keep going. From what was supposed to initially be a one off 8 week set of intense on2 workshops, the demand to provide more continues to grow. The Sydney salsa scene, particularly the on2 scene, is continuing to grow, and Mambo Lounge is proud to be one of the leading forces driving this expansion. Each week we are witnessing more and more people dancing the Mambo as the move begins to expand, from what was initially a curiosity to what is now a fully fledged preference for many. As always, we are a strictly on2 outfit, and this direction is definitely the way forward for us. Stay tuned for more. Upcoming Super-Advanced Workshops! Whilst the Mambo Lounge has not confirmed any dates as of yet, we will be running workshops in the not too distant future. In response to feedback from our more advanced students, the Mambo Lounge team will be holding two 'one-off' super advanced workshops, with no holds barred. Students for these workshops will be expected to have at least 18 months dance experience in Salsa, with a strong on2 understanding, as these workshops will be fast, very advanced and intensive. Some of our most complex material and footwork will be included with lots of ladies styling for the girls. Again, this is strictly for advanced dancers who are comfortable dancing on2 and have a thorough understanding of multiple spins, prep's, handholds and lead and follow. The pace will be fast!!!! 10th June 2005 Next Course Commences Sunday 19th June 2005!
Our next round of workshops is confirmed! Sunday June 19th, we will be beginning our next 8-week series of workshops. These workshops will be in the same format of our last series. The great news is that we will have the pleasure of working with two of Sydney's greatest female Salsa talents, Leisa Reynolds and Julia Gonzalez! Leisa partnered Tarek most recently at the recent Sydney Salsa Congress (see images gallery) last January and prior to that has represented Australia at the highest level internationally at the Zurich Salsa Congress and the LA Salsa Congress. Leisa is one of Sydney's most agile, precise and technically brilliant female dancers and she will be sharing all her secrets with the ladies. Julia Gonzalez, who also works with Oren and Club Salsa, is another of Sydney's gifted and flamboyant female dancers. Most of you will have taken her classes at some point or another, as well has having seen her on the social dance floor. Julia is renown for her sexy styling and has been more and more passionate about on2 Salsa. Partnering with Tarek and Javier - these classes will be offering more than ever for the ladies and of course, Tarek and Javier will continue to push the most leadable and brand new NY turn patterns, footwork and styling.

Sharrons' Salsa 'Farewell / Fundraiser' This event will be a great night of entertainment, all in the honour of our own Sharron. This is looking to be a huge night, filled with hot Salsa music, live band 'Saraguey' and performances from the best in Sydney Salsa and more... We hope you can keep this date free and hope to see you there! All proceeds will be go to aid in Sharrons Breast Cancer recurrence and one day, she will be back with us all here at Mambo Lounge!
03rd June 2005 New Classes Coming Soon!... Yes again we are soon about to hold our next 8 week course. Stay tuned shortly for further updates, confirmation of venue and times. Lots of new material and information coming your way! Saturday 18th June - Keep this date free! For those of you that are wondering why Sharron was unable to teach during the last course we have some information that you probably may have already heard or known about recently. Sharron has had a relapse of Breast Cancer which was diagnosed last February (the week before we started classes). Sharron led a very public fight with breast cancer 2 years ago, when she was initially diagnosed and underwent very aggressive treatment. Despite this she was still dancing and performing throughout her battle and led a very public recovery, including a story in New Woman Magazine. After her treatment was complete in April 2000, she was given a prognosis of 96% chance of the cancer never returning. Unfortunately on the 10th February 2005, we were informed that the cancer returned, despite all her treatment , and has unfortunately spread to her bones. Now Sharron is due to start chemotherapy again shortly as well as other forms of treatment. This will need to happen in the UK where she can be amongst the support of her family. In light of all this, many of Sharrons supporters, friends and associates are putting together a large event to be held on Saturday June 18th as a farewell / fundraiser to assist in her treatment and recovery. This will be a salsa filled night with bands, performances and more. Stay tuned for further information.
31st January 2005 NEW COURSE STARTS - Sunday 20 February 2005 After a good 4 months break, the Mambo Lounge team are back with confirmed dates for the new round of workshops! 2004 was a great year for us thanks to all your support and we hope you all had a fantastic Christmas and New Year. Between October and January, we had been working away on our new choreography with which we had the privilege to perform at the 1st annual Sydney Salsa Congress held earlier this month (www.sydneysalsacongress.com.au) Guest performing with us was Leisa Reynolds, such a brilliant and talented dancer in her own right. Now, we are excited to announce the next course, particularly due to the fact that we can have an answer when being bombarded with requests for "When is the next Mambo Lounge course?" Thank you to all those who have been asking! To all new students new to our email list, the Mambo Lounge are dedicated on2 specialists. New York Style Salsa (or Mambo) is all that we do, all that we teach and what we are known for. Our reason for existence is pure and simple - to share our knowledge and love of this style of Salsa and subsequently build the on2 community here in Sydney.

Beginners / Technique - The beginners class is suitable for those converting from on1 to on2, and also for complete beginners. An emphasis will be on technique. Intermediate / Advanced - This will suit intermediate to Advanced dancers and will be designed to be challenging!. All Intermediate / Advanced students can also then do the beginners class for free. Social - The social gives you the opportunity to revise what you have just learnt in class, to ask ML instructors questions, dance with other on2 students or ML instructors, or just hang around and check out the surrounding artwork while talk to friends in a cozy environment.
